4 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Worry
1. Worry Will Make You Oh Soh Sick!!!
Yes, it will! You sure don’t want to start having high blood pressure, cardiovascular issues, increase in blood sugar levels, panic attacks, respiratory problems and what have you. If you are a chronic ‘worrior’, your immune system will be weak and you will become susceptible to infections, malfunctions and irritations. For one, you will begin to age quickly.
How? Our body reacts and responds to stress by modifying the secretions of some hormones and chemicals. A host of these secretions begin from the adrenal gland which is situated right on top of the kidneys. It deploys the hormones that control the “fight-or-flee” response; maintains metabolic processes; blood sugar levels; the balance between salt and water; sexual maturation and so forth. Practically, these hormones are good with the required amount the body needs or requires per time, however, when prolonged, they can have an unimaginable debilitating effect.
According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), chronic emotional stress can practically affect every organ system in negative ways. So, my friend, stop worrying for your health’s sake!
‘Huh, I hear you, preacher! it’s ‘cos you don’t know the magnitude and urgency of what I have to worry about!’ You may wanna say.
There are two ways by which people learn — knowledge or experience — choose!”
2. Worry Will Blind Your Objectivity
You won’t be able to think straight. Worrying will never solve any problem. You need to calm down, relax and have the ‘there-is-always-a-way-attitude’ towards any situation that you may be confronted with.
If care and caution are not taken, worry will becloud your logical sense of reasoning.
Granted, there may be situations that cannot be changed again, so why worry? If they can be changed, why not go ahead and work towards changing them instead of worrying? Whichever way you look at it, it makes no sense to worry.
3. Worry is a 4-Count Charge Sin against God
Hahahaha…4 -count charge.
First, God said not to be anxious about anything. Failure to obey is an outright sin of disobedience. “Do not be anxious…” is not a suggestion or a good idea, it’s a commandment! Are you going to make up your mind to obey God on this from today?
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (Philippians 4:6 NIV)
Secondly, worrying is a sign of pride. The reason why you are worried is that you are looking at your own strength, prowess, ingenuity, capacity, capability, adequacy, resources, fortune, connections and all to get you out of the mess you are in — that’s tantamount to a spirit of independence. It's sheer pride if you ask me. Except the Lord builds a house, they labour in vain that build it!
Thirdly worrying is one of the greatest proofs of unbelief. We are to roll our cares, worries, and anxieties to the Lord because He cares for us. You can’t cast your cares on Him and have them at the same time. Can you eat your cake and have it? Yes actually. You can eat a part of it and keep the other part. Look at the scriptures again “….casting ALL your cares”.
Lastly, ‘Worry’ doesn’t go anywhere without his twin brother ‘Fear’. They always go hand in glove. Fear always gives an open invitation to the devil and his cohorts. Job said that thing which I greatly feared has come on me. Fear is faith in the negative.
The Amplified version of the Bible did great justice in expounding the following verse
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. (1 Peter 5:7 Amp)
Can you make one eye look up to the sky and the other to the ground? Oh…so don’t claim to be looking up to God and be worried stiff at the same time.
4. God Really Cares About You
Does He really? Absolutely YES! If you realize how much God cares about you, you will find it hard to worry.
What on earth are you worried about? What is new under the sun? If God who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans 8:32
Job said “What is mankind that you make so much of them, that you give them so much attention” in Job 7:17 NIV
David couldn’t fathom it, he said “what is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? (Psalm 8:4)
Furthermore, He said “O LORD, what is man, that You take knowledge of him? Or the son of man, that You think of him? (Psalm 144:3)
You are the apple of God’s eyes. He is constantly thinking of you. He said in Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. (1 Peter 5:7 Amp)
God is constantly thinking about you, His mind is so full of you, His plans for you will blow your mind, He has good stuff laid out for you not evil. And guess what? He knows how to make ALL things work together for you. It makes no difference whether that thing or situation that is making you worried was due to your fault, negligence, error, mistakes, miscalculation or misgivings. He will make those things work together for your good. You will almost think your mistakes were in His plan — not necessarily. He just knows how to make all things good or work together for your good.
Hallelujah!
